What's behind the rear window trim?

I was planning to mount a fire extinguisher in the rear window of my '99 per the pic below.

Does anyone have a pic of that area without the plastic trim, or, can you tell me if it'd be safe to drill and install two #8 or #10 sheet-metal screws approximately where the two green dots are? (3/4" long, maybe?)

Thanks,

Andy

that area looks like you could hit the glass, and or go completely though the cab into the outer surround.

I'm in the process of removing the whole interior of my supercab, but need some advice on how to remove the seat belt cover to get at the torx bolts.... then I can get some pics of whats behind there for you.

So if anyone can let me in on the trick to getting all the seat belt mounting point covers off without damaging them, I'd be greatful.... and I could then get the pics the OP wants.

No, that surface is perpendicular to the glass (or nearly so), but thanks.

Thanks, Capri. Not sure on the covers, but will appreciate the pics.

Have you thought of mounting a fire extinguisher underneath the driver side rear jump seat? A little more out of the way for your rear passenger.
If mounted in the area that your picture is of, it may become a headache maker for the rear passenger, or a headache maker for you if in a frontal collision, ripping those little screws out of their mounting hole and sending the extinguisher to your rear skull. Just my $.02

Im not real sure how heavy the fire extinguisher is, but my gun rack has been holding up just fine over the years. I use some rubber ties to keep them in the slots when traveling, and rarely ever have passengers in the back. So the install fit my needs. And as the gentleman said above, the plastic covers pop off except the bottom piece which has a screw holding it to the rear cab. Also note, to completely take off the top piece (has the seat belt through it) you need a T50 torq bit to take it off the side wall. Which would probably suffice as the best place to mount some brackets for that extinguisher.
