P0302 Misfire on #2, 4.6L 2V
I've got a 2002 F150 4.6L 4x4. 175xxx miles.
Over the holidays I got a misfire while out of town. I was planning on doing spark plugs in the Spring, so rather than read codes and diagnose which cylinder it was I went ahead and ordered 8 new CoP's and replaced the plugs because its a busy time of year for me, Ran good, then regressed slowly and intermittently.
Sunday afternoon the problem went from intermittent to constant. I went back in, replaced all the plugs with Motorcraft Platinum (had bought Bosch before), added di-electric grease where the spring contacts the terminal on the CoP and where the spring contacts the plug. The #2 plug I pulled was fouled, I pulled each wire during idle and only #2 had no effect, and I confirmed today with a code read that its a P0302.
I also noticed a dark spot on the exposed part of the wires just up from the #2 plug that almost looks like it arced at one point. I can get a pic tonight if it sounds important, it was raining last night so I just wanted to get done.
My question is - if I swap coils around and that doesn't solve it, any ideas? It's a brand new coil and I am 90% sure it has been swapped around already. Already cleaned the TB, EGR, IAC, checked vac hoses. New air filter, haven't messed w the MAF yet though.
Thanks, getting tired of spending every night under the hood. That's only fun on project vehicles, not the DD!

Also to add, I have an exahust leak on that side of the motor (broken stud) that I am saving for Spring. I don't think that would monkey with the spark, but erring on the side of full disclosure. I am getting flashing SES so I know fuel is going in and passing throught the exhaust valve into the Cat.
