Used motor Reference

Can anybody refer me to a reputable salvage or rebuilt motor dealer. It's kinda scary buying a used motor and just taken somebody's work that its accurate mileage runs good. I live in NJ I have a 2001 ford f150 4.6l v8 4x4 sport the 8 digit of vin is w. I lost house and cars in hurricane and picked up this ford f150 for really cheap it needs motor but I'm hoping after motor is in that I atleast have 1 good reliable vehicle the rest of the material things that were lost will follow.

LKQ would probably be your best bet on buying a used motor.

I bought a used engine from a "reputable" wrecking yard. Went and looked at the vehicle that it was coming out of. The donor vehicle looked really nice (well cared for) except for being rearended. lol The yard gave me a 90 day warranty. I would find a yard at www.car-parts.com. You might also call a few small local auto repair shops to see who they use.
