1997 - 2003 F-150

Wil a 2002 F150 4.6 go in 1997 with same engine?

a few things. the intakes are different and I dont think you can use the 97 intake on the 02 engine so you have to adapt stuff on the new intake. pullys maybe. Oil filter adaptor migh be different.. Have to use the 97's ignition..

Rad the swap notes. It will explain the differences. As far as the engines bolting in to the engine bay. Yes they fit right in no problem. If you have the complete engine then take out the old one and install the new one. Use the 97 engine harness and add the missing sensors from the 97 onto the 02.
