Exhaust manifold question

Getting ready to replace the exhaust manifolds on my '00 F150 with a 4.6 V8.

My question is, should I replace them with a new set of stock cast iron manifolds or should I put a set of headers on instead... and if headers are better, which ones do you guys recommend and where can I buy them?

Thanks in advance.

If you are thinking about hreaders then get long tube headers. I got mine on ebay. OBX stainless steel. From manifold all the way back to the Y pipe. Included the high flow cats. The cats will not pass emissions but I will replace them with the factory ones I took off.

I've got much of the front end of my truck torn apart to fix some other stuff and will probably never have better access than I do right now... besides, they are pretty rusty and the nuts and studs are almost rusted to nothing.

Even though they aren't leaking now, it won't be long till they are... so I'm going to do them for "peace of mind" while I can get into them fairly easy.

RockAuto.com has stock type replacements, but I didn't want to rule out switching to headers... just don't know which ones to get or where to get them.

I'm not replacing the stock Y pipe, so long tubes are out of the question. Probably a set of uneaqual length shorties, but not sure if I should go with 1 1/2" or 1 5/8" tubes with my 4.6 engine.

Don't waste your $$ on shorties. Might as well get manifolds. Whatever you do replace the fasteners with stainless steel.

+1 for going with long tube headers over shorties. OBX kit includes a new y-pipe. They offer a cat and catless version of their kit.
