2000 ford 150 water in my ignition coils
i just replaced ingnition coil 4 and 3 check engine light came up said they had gone bad but im on my replaced ignition coil 4 five times now and every time i pull it out it comes out with water how those water get there i havent been driving it it was raining this couple of days but i checked for leak and antifreeze is good so i know its not leaking i changed them yeterday again today i used it and it drives but i know its not driving how it shoul be its rugh drive and i feel like its eating up my gas .
how much water? It could be condensation depending on where you live and the temperatures. also, check your upper intake, they tend to crack and leak. i know you said you checked the antifreeze levels but a small leak isnt noticed just by checking levels.
Did you use dielectric grease on the boots? Thats exactly whay its for to make the system water resistant. The heater core hoses run above 3&4 they can leak down and cause this problem.. So can driving through big puddles in the rain..
Make sure you are getting the cop to seat properly. Tough bugger back there.
Coil 4 would indicate the possibility of one of your heater hoses leaking as well. So check those. Leaks can sometimes be small and only leak at certain times. Best bet is to keep the engine reved up a bit to let the pump keep pressure and coolant moving... then look for the leak.
And as I learned recently, a single cylinder misfire can cause your fuel mileage to drop dramatically. When that coil isnt firing, it is dumping raw fuel into that cylinder which in turn soaks the 02 sensors and cat converters. Your cats are at high risk for failure at that point and if driven with the misfire for too long your 02's will need replaced to get your mileage back.

I know that back a few years when my truck still belonged to my father he said the mechanic told him they have a problem with water and the coils
dielectric grease may not really solve the problem - I'm thinking the real problem may be the actual rubber used to make the boot
thinking this because I also have a 79 f150
back when I bought it there was a no start problem with it when it rained or was foggy out
it had an issue with wicking water out of thin air into the boots on the top of the distribuator
-proven when I backed the truck outta the garage and washed it one bright hot summer day
the truck would not start after being washed - pull a boot off the distribuator and enough water had collected in the boot to run out as a dribble
problem ? the lucas electric spark plug wires - the same lucas that made junk electrical parts in the 60'2 & 70's for the english cars that have a rep for bad electrical parts
so , just changeing the coil boots to somthing from another maker might be a good first step

all my parts are motor-craft my mechanic told me it was the intake that its leaking water and it drips on the ignition coils that it would cost me 500 to fix could it be the intake or its really cold in California and its been raining but the truck i don't drive it when its raining because of this problem take the mustang instead i never check the heater line for leak been normal only happen to me this month hardly drive it far only around the city i stay at

If the truck sat and got water in the plug wells, how do you think it might have gotten there?

I have 186,000 mile and never had an issue with water intrusion.
Die-electric grease is not the answer nor are different boots.
Once water gets in it can't get out.
Best it does is phase change to steam and makes thing even worse.

how did you fixed that problem its weird only on my passenger side two but i all ready put four ignition coils they cost 54 each
