03 supercrew stuck in 4wheel low
03 supercrew stuck in 4wheel low
well the story goes my little brother took my other brothers truck and it was snowing so he stuck the truck in 4wheel low and was driving down the road. when he parked the truck he left in in 4wheel low. now it is stuck in 4wheel low and im the one who gets to fix it. from what the general consensus is the solenoid is stuck and i should manually try and move it? i need to get this fixed asap so all replies are greatly appreciated!
The only way it will go into and out of 4Lo is by being in neutral with your foot on the brake, stopped. If you try it in another gear and do not do it in neutral, I'm not sure if the light will come on or not but it won't be in 4Lo.
Can't 'be sure' at this point what condition the drive train is in if you don't know how to operate it.
Is the truck in a very low speed condition indicating it is in 4L. Do not just depend on what the lamp tells you.
Have you turned the switch to 2H and what was the response?
Have you checked for frozen ice under the front that has locked up the front axle actuator?
.
You cannot go 4L with the truck moving because of the radiacal change in gearing.
The truck must be stopped, in neutral and foot on brake to prevent this from happening.
Once we know what condition you have we can tell you what is the probable situation and what to lok for.
The reason is the whole operation is a series of events your not familuar with.
Good luck.

As soon as you park the truck and the switck is in 2HI it should go back into 2HI. Your foot is on the brakes and you cycle the sghift lever through neutral. Get underneath the truck and lightly tap the shift motor and try again. Unplug the connector and look for corrosion. There are two known causes for the lack of shift; faulty shift motor and water intrusion onto the GEM.
