Need heater switch help

Have a 97 F150 and noticed since it's winter now that the slector switch quit working. Put the switch on just floor or floor defrost or just defrost it all comes out the same place the floor defrost setting. Any ideas where to start?

Check to see if your servo is moving the heater blend door. It may be broken off. U may see a bad hose. This may help if the blend door is the culprit.

Heater Treater option

Will this help with a vacuum control position problem?

Vacuum control motors are used on both air distribution and air inlet doors. The air inlet and panel/defrost doors use a two position vacuum control motor. The floor duct/panel door uses a three position vacuum control motor. Vacuum control motors are controlled by engine vacuum through the climate control head.

The 1997 has known issues with the vacuum line breaking and or rotting out at the resivior, I would start with removing the battery and the tray and have a look at the supply line. The is no filter in the vacuum supply line from the resivior to the firewall.

Might sound dumb but make sure the rheostat didn't jam and cause your **** to break. Happened on my 99' and a buddy's 97', the plastic **** would snap where it meets the rheostat, but would still feel the same when you went to change vents.

well switched ***** around and still same so think it's the blender door. might wait to dig into it in the summer heater still puts out heat. How often does the switch it self go bad or is the biggest problem the blend door?

The heater blend door has nothing to do with where the air comes out, it only controls the temperature of the outlet air. The inlet/outlet airflow selection is all vacuum operated - no rheostats or electrical motors are involved. If the vacuum supply is lost, airflow defaults to the defroster.

Been a while but figured it out today took the controller of that has the blue and yellow hooked to it by the gas pedal. It worked ok with a hand pump so put back on and everything works like it should so was either stuck or the rod came unhooked.
