Weird problem(s) with my '98

Okay, so I have a couple of problems with my truck which I think are due to it sitting for long periods of time. So if anyone can comment on one or both problems that would be great!

1). I have been having a problem where the 4x4 will shift itself in and out by itself (ESOF). When it does this, I shift it to 4x4 and then shift it back to two wheel drive and it will momentarily go into 4x2 but then right back into 4x4. When it is in 4x4 there is usually a clicking noise that is coming from under the truck. (?) This has happened before but then corrected it self after not driving the truck for a while but I would really like to fix it so it doesn't happen when I'm doing 70..

2). There is also a metallic grinding noise coming from under the hood. It does not change with vehicle speed so I'm sure it is the engine. I was wondering if anyone knows whether it could be an internal part or just a pulley.

- Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I'm not sure what the issue is with your 4x4 but for the grinding noise, eliminate a pulley by removing the drive belt and starting it. Good change it is a bad bearing on a pulley.
