Bad news for TrueBlue
Well I have learned the hard way that i am not even close to an engine builder because I blew the engine up in my truck sunday. After doing the top end was having sever problems with bank 2 running lean and and decided i needed more fuel....Instead of using a gas can i was lazy and figured a 1/2 mile ride was ok and boy was i ever wrong.... Bad part was is that motor only had 75k miles on it and i learned a very valuable lesson.... So heres my plan i purchase this LKQ complete long block for 2500 and decide to just put in what I took out. It has a few goodies and a 3 year warrenty on it thinking it was a good score. And im also having an ASE certified shop do the install. I did sell my lightning swap to fund this as i think i'm actually done for a while with the perfomance upgrades. Here's a pic let me know what you all think. And please take it easy on me for being a complete MORON! LMFAO thanks guys!
Yeah but not until i do a proper break in on this motor and give her a few thousand miles to ensure everything is solid enough to handle it.... I don't really know how i blew up the other one but it scared me enough not to rush this one.
I started out like a horrible vacuum leak so i replaced every vacuum hose on the motor. I could never get the idle set right. I was throwing a few codes running lean on bank 2 and misfire under 1000 revolutions per start up. So i checked the in take for vacuum leaks found nothing i finally started running fine after i cleaned all the connections for the fuel injectors and codes went away execpt it started a horrible gurgle noise from some where in the in take you could hear it through the cai. Then it had low compression when i tried to start then spark knock started...... Was the weirdest thing i have ever seen or heard. Idk where i went wrong but when i reassembled the intake afer media blast and powder coat i did somthing wrong..My own fault Its at a shop now looks like i blew a hole in the top of cyl #7... I can't belive i messed it up bad enough to blow her up...breaks my heart and is a huge blow to my confidence in working on modular motors. I feel like a total jackass.

I think we all have cost ourselves more money and made more work on occassion by taking a hands on approach. When it happens I remember all the money I saved in the past by doing my own work and make sure I learned a lesson about what not to do.
So since you were storing the truck for the winter anyway, couldnt you have just waited and put the 5.4 in it once you built it since you already have another car?
and then sold the broken 4.6 for cash anyway?

Yea but thats a huge project and this kinda killed my confidence in doing the swap. Ill do the 4.6 swap throw my vortech on it run low boost and just enjoy actually using the truck next year. I had it ripped apart so many thimes this year doing stuff i only drove it 4 times all summer. Think i might actually look into buying a lightning in the next few years.

musta been running SEVERLY lean then... you still putting your S/C on it?
