Wrecked my truck - have parts swap / compatibility questions

Hi all, I have a 2003 4x4 Heritage edition truck that used to be in excellent condition (that is until I hit the back on a shuttle bus). It's the supercab with the 5.4L, auto trans (4R70W), the 7700 tow pkg and 17" wheels.

I'm looking to replace my truck with a similar one (99-03) but maybe not 4x4. I'm going to get what's left of the truck back from the insurance co and want to know what parts I can or should take off my old truck to put on the new one.

It only has front end damage. The truck had 55K miles. I'm the original owner so I know how the truck as maintained. I don't have too much time so I'm not looking to do an engine swap.

Here's what I'm thinking... Definitely wheels and tires (they are almost new), rollup bed cover, PML differential cover and possibly the interior depending what shape the new truck is in.

It has the 10.25 limites slip rear axle (3:55 gears) would this swap over to say a 99 F150 2wd with the 4.6 V8 without too much trouble?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated!!

Is the frame really bent? Why not try to fix that one? You've had it since new and know how it was maintained. Plus, it's a great looking truck.

Thanks! I don't think the frame is bent. Fixing it might be an option but the quote for repairs from the insurance co was way too high. I might check with a local shop who has done work for me before but if I have to put in over $8K I don't think it's worth it to have a salvage truck.

mine had really similar damage, but also had to have the windshield and SuperCrew roof (very hard to find) replaced. The total bill on mine was $7500. They didn't change the title, mine is non-salvage after all the repairs.

Yours should be under $5k to get back to like-new condition. I really doubt the frame is bent, looking at where the tow hooks are. With 55k and a known service history, I would lean toward getting it repaired. Now is your chance to get a custom hood if you want one. good luck.

Howies - I am leaning towards getting mine fixed. The insurance co has already totalled it so it would be salvage to get it back. The price is right though. I really like your idea of a custom hood. thanks!

Sorry about your accident. Hope you can repair it as it appears to be a nice ride.
If planning on moving parts over to another truck, they should all work as all the 7700 packages come with 7 lugs to my knowledge. Also the 2004 7700 should have 4r100 transmission. The 10.25 rear never came with a 5 lug option to my knowledge and was offered as a 3.73 or 4.10 gear option only.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I don't have the 7700lb tow package. My original window sticker says it has the "trailer towing group, class III". Anyway I have 5 lug wheels and the 10.25 limted slip.

Fordguy24 - I'll PM you when I get the truck back. I'm not sure what I will do quite yet.

If it were me (and the damage is only cosmetic), I'd use the money from insurance and money towards a new truck to just repair it.
