should I buy this parts truck
Good evening everyone.
I have recently found out that there is a truck that is being scraped but i may be able to buy. Keep in mind i havnt seen it yet but am told rust is an issue. Other issues are bad gas tank, lines etc and i believe it has less then or around 200 000 kms. Its a 97 with a v8( dont know which one sorry) and thats all i really know at the moment. I can get it cheap.
Parts i know i will want off it are the tannue cover, airbag sensors, front end ( grill fender etc), rims (winter), and maybe the engine if its good and compatible with my 4.6 ( was planing a rebuild down the road), and rear end if its posi and/ or has taller gears.
Is there anything i should look out for? Is both the 97 v8s the same as 98s?

There are lots of things that could be different.
I personally wouldnt buy a whole truck for parts unless mine was close to totaled and was looking for a complete parts truck. From the sounds of the rust, high mileage and unknown... it would almost have to be free for me to consider. If your after a grill and a few fenders, you can find them almost anywhere for a few hundred bucks and not have to deal with the left over scrap sitting in you yard.
When your engine gets tired and your ready for a swap, consider the PI 5.4 as an upgrade and never look back..
The rust alone would be an issue.. having to beat every bolt to death and cut parts just to get them off does not sound enticing.

being a 97 there is a high possibility that it has the 4.6, i agree with toyz, unless its a few hundred bucks i wouldnt buy it. the NPI 4.6 isn't worth much with high miles. im also willing to bet cash money it has 3.55 gears with an 8.8 l/s rear end being a v-8.
