33s with leveling?

Hey guys. I've got a 03 f150 xlt supercrew 2wd truck and wondering if I can fit 33s on it with only a leveling kit. Im not going to use the truck for mud, so please dont leave comments about "why put 33s on a 2wd?" Truck is going to be be used as a daily driving and for looks. I go down dirt trails alot and there is an old abandoned golf course and gravel pit near my house that I go to a lot, so I just want a little more ground clearance and some trail tires. I plan on getting the 2" level kit from daystar. I've heard lots of people say it can be done, so can it? Also, what size tire should I use? I'm getting 18" rims, 18x9. And I was wondering what size tires? I'm getting the nitto trail grapplers, and would like to get as close to a 33 as possible. They have two sizes I was looking. First is 285/65/18 which is 32.59 diameter and 7.29 width. The second is 275/70/18 Which is 33.16 diameter and 7.58 width. Which tire size would be better to use? Also, should any trimming be done and is there gonna be any major rubbing? Thanks for looking!

285/70/17's (33") fit fine on a 4x4 stock, so you wont have any probs with a 2x4 and a leveling kit.

I trimmed a tiny bit of my front valance and removed my mud flaps so there would be no rubbing even when packed with mud or snow. It totally depends on your truck, some rub and most don't with 33's - install them and decide if any trimming is necessary.

As for 18" tires, I can't comment. I'm actually thinking of going from stock 17's to 305/70/16 Duratrac's for my next set.

well those sizes for the nitto trail grapplers are: 275 70 18 (33.62x11.10) and 285 65 18 (32.83x11.93) info is from there site; http://nittotire.com/Tire/trailgrappler#size i dont think you mean 7" width unless your just talking about the actual tread width. but yea it will fit. i have a 1997 xlt supercab and can fit 285 75 16 which is 32.8x11.5 with a 2" level (i dont have it on yet). as for the 18x9 whats your offset? if your backspacing is 4.5" which is stock and most aftermarket rims make them close to that, you'll have no problem.

Your probably gonna have some rubbing when turning on the frame and if you hit some big bumps on the inside of the wheel well because of the 9" wide wheel. You probably won't have too much room for any flex either. But try to get the wheel as close to the stock backspacing as possibly otherwise you'll definitely have some rubbing issues.

Thanks guys. I think instead of the 18" rims I'm gonna get 17" rims. I'm leaning towards the Mickey Thompson classic lock 17x9. The backspacing on them is 4.5" and the offset is -12mm. Also, I'll be getting the nitto trail grappler 285/70/r17 tires which is 33.15 height and 11.81 width. I was thinking about adding a 1" or 2" rear block also, not sure yet though. But probably will.

Could I get the level and rear blocks as a kit somewhere? I want 2" leveling and a 3" or 4" rear block (I was told the 3" block gives me 1" of rear lift and the 4" gives me 2") Anyone know what size rear block I need and where I can find them?

Also, I would like upgrade my rear shocks. Any ideas? And would a 33x12.5x17 tire be to big? The height of the tire is 32.95 and the width is 12.68

I think with only a 2" level and a 9" wide wheel your gonna have some bad rubbing with a 33x12.50.

If you wanna run a 9" wheel I'd either stick with something closer to a 31-32" tire or go with either a spindle lift (3-3.5" depending on brand) or go 3" coils with the aftermarket control arms.

Unless he's referring to the people who replace the factory block which is about 2" with the new lift blocks in which case a 3" block would be 1" of lift over stock height.
