Adding Expy Moonroof

I have a moonroof from an 01 expy eddie bauer and have a few questions. I have a 1999 f150 scab. Do the supercabs with factory moonroofs have extra reinforcement in the roof itself or are they the same from 97-03? Is the expy moonroof the same dimensions as the f150 one? If any one has any answers to these questions or anything else i might run into that would be great.

I can measure mine out of my SCrew tomorrow, not sure of the differences between the two . I've got some pictures in an album from when I had to fix the rear water channel, I don't know if they'll help any either but they're there.

Im glad I got a factory moon roof. I love it. I would not do an all glass roof, It would be the end of your interior if it began hailing.

I'm not sure about the bracing internally, never dropped the headliner. I'd think the "easiest" way without buying a different truck would be to cut the roof out of one at the seams. That way you could save the headliner & overhead console switchery, trace back electrics, drain tubes, etc.

After having one in my 97 mounty, I made it my mission to find an scab with one, and there aren't that many out there, but there's a few. Much easier to find an screw with one.

I have an 03 Scab and it has the factory Moonroof and I really don't think there is any extra reinforcement. The roof area just to the rear of the Moonroof is very flimsy and can be dented with very little pressure, in addition the roof does a little pop-up whenever the last door is closed due to the air pressure. I am getting ready to remove the headliner to install an 03 Lightning third brake light and I am going to check for any reinforcement. If it is there, it isn't working anymore and I will fix it. If it isn't there I am going to install something to make it sturdier. That pop-up it does makes me a little queasy every time I see it.

Black ferret. If you could take lots of pics when you have your headliner out including measurements that would be awesome!

Just make sure if you do it that its done right.. It would suck to have a leaking moon roof.

This sounds interesting. I would love a sunroof. OP, do you already have a sunroof in place that you are trying to upgrade? Just wondering 'cause it would seem like (atleast on mine) the water channels run almost the length of the roof. Wouldn't that pose a problem as the sunroof/moonroof need to sit flush on the roof? It looks like on the factory sunroof, the roof panel is flat until about 2-3" after the end of the sunroof where the rain channels begin.

I do not have a factory one, but I bought a factory one from an expedition, and I want to put it in my truck.

I actually want to do the same thing as you, OP. When you got the sunroof out of the Expedition, did you take notice to how it mounted to the roof? As for the headliner, our '99 goes right up to the roof, so if you mount the sunroof the headliner would hit it. I have switched my headliner with one out of a 2003 to help in adding a sunroof to mine. I also had to switch headliners when I installed grab handles out of a '03. Please keep us updated.
