I will need to get new tires in the next few months and I plan on raising the front of the truck via the torsion bars when I make this purchase. I currently have a 255/70R16 on the stock 16 inch rim. I know I can get a 265/75R16 on there with no issues what-so-ever.
However, would a 285/75R16 safely fit on my stock 16" wheel, or is the tire going to be to wide for that rim? I know they will fit size wise in the wheel well. Do any of you have any experience with this?
Thanks,
Dave

Will fit fine but why the jump? 265 is a good tire size and i think a be the perfect size tire for my rig with 3.55 gears. 285s seem to be to much tire for a high gear ratio. Dont know what your runnning for gears but consider what your gonn use it for. Playing on the weekend and daily driver id stick to 265s everyday crawling in the mud or beating down back roads and dont need the mpg run the 285
