1999 F150 won't start

Was driving on interstate when it died. Pulled to shoulder and tried to restart. Acted like battery was low. Towed home and put on charger. Still acted like low battery. Theft light flashed before it died. What will cause this, and how do I correct it.

Test both the alternator and the battery. At least one is bad, maybe both.
