keyless entry question

how do i find out if I have it installed? the truck did not come with any remotes but has just about every other option. it is a 98 XLT with tow package if that matters.

Get in, close the doors, put the key in the ignition and cycle it to the run position (do not start) and back to the off position 8 times ending with the key in the run position. You have to do this within 10 seconds. The locks should go up and down indicating you have a remote entry system and it is ready for programming.

Here is the page from a newer manual ( think the procedure was added in 99 or 00 ?? ) that shows what Toyz posted.

This will not be in your owners manual ( some text to the point of take all the remotes and your truck to the dealer.
