My "new" Truck

Well here it is

It is a 1998 F150 XLT 3 door 4X4 cool side! (whatever they call it) currently sitting on 315/70r17's. It has 117k on the clock but has been very well taken care of.

I got it about a week ago and have added a Spectra CAI and new headlights (cheep stock style but better than what was on). I just (like 10 min ago) ordered a Gibson Super Truck exhaust system for it. i know they are not the loudest but I was not looking for a race car exhaust. and removed the nerf bars. (i dont like chrome) I may replace them with body mount black bars if i can find one i like.

this is my first Truck I had a few Jeeps (Wranglers and Grands) a 66 unimog couple of hummers (96 wagon and 02 H2) and a bunch of street cars(prowler, MINI's, Mustangs)

frame is 100% rust free engine runs great, shifts great, doesnt look like it has ever seen mud or someone has been pressure washing it on a lift.

Nice truck! I secretly like the flareside beds as well. I only think they look good on this generation, tho.

no body lift. still trying to figure out what all has been done. It may have a leveling kit installed but not sure. there is about 3/4" or so on the torsion bar bolts so dont know if they cranked them or what. and to Buxton91 I have always hated the flair side trucks (mostly from the looks of the Chevy stepside) but it works on this model ford. I found out that it has 3.55 gears with the limited slip but I think I am going to have to regear to at least 4.11 or 4.56 and if I do i want selectable lockers front and rear. not sure what is available for it I would like to put a OX locker up front and a Detroit out back (had dual ARB's in all my jeeps but the air lines are a pain) what is the spline count of the front end? and it is a 8.8 right?

Usually, with 315's on just a regular torsion crank the tires look very stuffed. You look to have a good bit of room up front, so I would say it probably has aftermarket torsion keys. As far as your axles, you have a reverse cut 8.8 up front and either an 8.8 or 9.75 in the rear. If you google the axle door code it should tell you for sure.

rear is definatly the 8.8 (roundish pumpkin) acording to the door code it has the 3.55 gears and a limited slip. I just installed the Gibson Super Truck exhaust and it looks great! pic is a bit blury but you get the idea

welcome to the forum!!

i would go with 4.56 gears to keep that 4.6 happy.
