how to gain mpg

I have a 1998 f-150 with the 5.4. I love my truck but it obviously gets terrible mpgs. Does anyone know of any cheap mods I can do to increase my mileage? Also does anyone know if g foce performance chops work on f-150s or not, I couldnt find any reveiws specific to my truck. I also heard they could harm your engine by running it to lean, is this true? Thanks in advance.

there really isnt anything you can do to increase your MPG. You own a gas hog end of story. Fill your tires up keep it maintained and all and you might average 15 if your really lucky 16

G chip is a waste. .25 cent resistor chip made to look pretty.

You can see up to 1-2 MPG gains with a good tuner but only on freeway and at modest speeds (steady 65 or below). You will affect your gas mpg more by how you drive, keep the tires properly inflated, clean fuel filter, ect ect.

Cheap mods not really , that said efans are worth the money as well as a good programmer like and Edge CS or a gryphon ( be patient with PHP long wait times) . Like others have said watch your tire pressure and not jack rabbit starts. You may also want to consider some sort of CAI lots of guys on here do the gots mods and that seams cheap from what I understand I myself have a K&N CAI and am very happy with it but its not popular on here . There are lots a ways to get small increases in Fuel Economy that add in the end add up. The only one with big gains are the efans and to an extent a good programmer. I would also consider a good synthetic oil and of course all you maintenance and upkeep.

That is what I do. I drive the Tercel to work and drive the truck on weekends to haul the travel trailer and or quad.

$20.00 a week in gas vs $70.00 a week in gas.
