Coolant Draining for Dummies...THIS Dummy in particular
Trying to drain my coolant from the engine block. Thought I had the right plug, but when I unscrewed it, nothing came out. Can't seem to find a good explanation online of which exact spot I need to unscrew. Also, is it possible that there really wasn't that much in the block so there was nothing there to drain? Oh, 2002 XL, btw.
Well alright... that means I definitely pulled something that wasn't the drain plug. Hope that didn't screw anything up. Any idea where exactly the drain plug is? I've seen one write-up with the most unclear picture possible, and another that's on a 98, and I don't see anything similar underneath my driver side as what he showed in his pic.

Okay so this is the plug I pulled yesterday, and nothing came out. I don't even see anything else that resembles what would be a drain plug. Any ideas?

Btw, I took this pic with my legs hanging out from the truck at the driver door, so use that as a reference to direction, as well.

Seriously?! So is that the right one? Is it just clogged?

. Confused for a minute.. ? Or is the writing upside down ? Iduno, where's my beer..Looks like someone shove a bolt in there, -in place of the plug. To drain the block, I always pull top hoses. The top hose needs to removed anyway, -over by the thermostat housing. When you refill with coolant, you wait for it to appear at the housing connect. THEN , throw the top hose back on. It removes the air this way. That's just part of the procedure tho.
