Exhaust Manifolds OEM parts or not?

I plan on changing my passenger side exhaust manifold on my 2001 Supercrew .Should I go with Ford parts or Dorman or what ever the local Parts store sales what is the benefit of OEM parts? I can save a lot buying from Rockauto . Manifolds are all the same? Can I get Stainless Steel studs from Ford ? Thanks Dan

Why are you swapping it out; is something wrong with it? I'd imagine there's a few guys on here that'll give you a stock manifold for next to nothing if you need one.

I have the same issue and getting ready to replace the pax side as well because of a crack. I found a manifold on Ebay, "AJ manifold", description states that it is an OEM replacement and is more durable than OEM, list price is $75 with free shipping. Love to hear some opinions or experiences with this one or others.

I hate to bash on Dorman because I know some people that work there, but my dad bought a Dorman manifold for his F250 with the 5.4 and he wasn't happy. He said the exhaust openings were noticeably smaller then the stock manifold and the surface finish wasn't nearly as nice. He ended up buying Gibson shorty headers on sale for the same price of the right side OEM manifold.

I used a Dorman manifold with no problems. Norse-Child Check out the nuts on yours .Mine were rusted to nothing end up cutting them off with a torch the 2 studs closest to the fire wall broke ended up drilling and tapping them to 3/8 studs its a bitch of a Job be prepared. I went to Autozone the parts were more money didnt' feel like waiting if i did it again I would buy all my parts from Rockauto . good luck with the Job and take your time Dan

If i where you id spend a little extra money on some single tube headers. I got mine for about 175 on summit. They are WAY less restricting then the stock exhaust manifolds. It won't hurt your engine it will infact help it. Im sitting on 35's and i get 20 mpg thanks to in part of those headers. just a thought

Dorman sucks. First one cracked in under 7 months. Second one. Slight crack in 3 months. At least oem will go 30k+ miles. The oem only was bad because of the gasket leak warped it.

Need to look at the trans mount. When the mount fails it stresses/vibrates the exhaust system until it eventually snaps the back manifold studs. That fatigues the manifold as well. The passenger side goes first.

The manifold

I bought a Dorman manifold from auto zone as well as a complete bolt kit. Doing the repair next Thurs (july 5) at work on a rack. Not something that I wanted to do at home in the drive.

Got acess to a torch and welder there so if all goes well my F150 will be queit again (thank god). Exhaust leaks drive me nuts!
