1998 4.6 swap to 2004 Expy 5.4 DONE!

Well five months after my "Going deep" post about my impending swap from my 4.6 with a blown head gasket to a 2004 2v Expedition unmolested factory crate motor it's done. Fired it up Friday night drove it all weekend short trips putting 80 miles on it to get the drive cycles in the computer and today it passed emissions. It fired right up first crank and after a few more starts it settled in and started running great. It runs so well I wonder if it really needs a tune, though I'm sure towing and maybe different altitudes would probably exceed the ability of the computer to adjust to the extra cubes.
Thanks JMC and Mikeyss for the swap notes and cab removal notes.
Mike

This is a 5.4 3v engine and you kept the 98 computer?

This is a 2 valve motor, build stickers say built in May 2004 I believe and yes I am using the original 98 computer and wiring harness, had to swap out the 2004 injectors and fuel rail to ones off of a 2000 because of no fuel return line and different injector plugs.

Well, the 80 miles I put on my truck over the weekend was to get drive cycles into the computer so I took it easy since I had to pass smog on Monday as my plates also expired on Monday. I took it out today and laid the hammer down a little, what a difference! I am so sorry I sought out a 4.6 when I originally bought this truck. The difference is noticeable. The 4.6 would ping and rattle under acceleration and mid grade gas was a must when towing. With the 5.4 got on the on ramp and hammered it and it was great, no pinging and it flat scoots. Keep in mind this is with the stock 98 4.6 computer, I wonder what a tune will do for it.
