i have a single cab 98 f150 with captain seats and a center console on the floor and want to change it to a bench seat. do they have the same configuration on them or would there need to be some drilling and fabricating. if anyone has done this please let me know thanks!

I did the 40/60 bench swap and ditched the Lariat seats and console. It bolted right in and I reused the Lariat power seat tracks. I think the cloth seats are more comfortable, plus my leather was toast.

They are different but the 99-04 lightnings are a direct fit. If you were local to Texas I would trade you right now!

I swapped my 99 lariat front bench to expy buckets and they were a direct swap.

The only downside of the swap is my bench is now taking up much needed space in my garage hahah.

Ive heard you can make 04+ fit in a 1998-2003 but it takes quite a bit of fab work.

Don't know anything about previous to 98 though.

Did the same to my buddies 99 model back in 2001 and it was easy bolt in/swap. He gave his bench seat to me for the labor cost of doing it for him. I " HAD " his bench seat up to a month ago and finally gave it away on CL to a guy looking for one. His was so worn there were huge pieces missing on the corners

You really should not have a problem other than getting the Torx bit size needed if you don't have one. I picked a set up at Harbor Freight for 3/8" socket and it was a breeze

Yeah the expy seats came from an 01 and popped right into my 99. Yeah I was about 1 mile inside the junkyard, found the expy, walked back to my truck to get my tools, walked back, and found out I didn't have the torx keys Hahahaha. Luckily my buddy was with me and I sent him to the nearest hardware store (1hr away round trip) while I started ripping the console out.
