Cutting a Coil Off

I'm thinking of cutting a coil off my stock springs to lower the front end around 1.5". I already have 2" lowering shackles out back. I would like to hear pros and cons of doing this.

Depends if you have ride quality concerns.
Cutting a coil off makes it stiffer feeling.
A coil afterall, is a torsion bar in coil form.
If you want the same compression rate then an after market coil spring engineered to the right compressed height with the weight on it per the vehichle, is the better way.
This spring would be made from a sleightly smaller wire stock to come up with the same feel at the shorter overall load length.
Then there is the progressive spring design with coil pitch that varies along it's length.
This design rides good under no load but gets stiffer as the vehichle load weight increases.
Good luck.

I've decided not to do it and probably get the lowering springs.

I'm wanting at least 1.5" and I believe the L springs are only going to give me half of that.

depends on the year of the Lightning, the 99-02 trucks were lower than the 03-04 Lightnings (when they upped the payload)
