A.R.E. Tonneau Cover Question
A.R.E. Tonneau Cover Question
Hey guys...quick question...this is my first truck with a fiberglass tonneau cover on it...never did like them before, but I'm starting to dig it since it came with the truck i just purchased...
I have a couple of labs that LOVE to ride...is there anything out there in the aftermarket world that can allow you to prop up the tonneau cover and hold it up? I've done some searches online, but can't seem to find anything...maybe one of you guys have a simular situation and was able to find something to remedy the issue...
thanks in advance!!...and pics will be up soon of the new ride (hopefully)

I have the same type of cover and occasionally have to prop up the cover. It usually is supported by whatever is in the bed. I once use a device to prop it open to prevent damage to something in the bed. I had purchased an expandable "bed bar" from harbor freight. They are used to stop cargo from shifting in the bed while driving. I stood it on end and expanded it until the top was secured in the open position. It was held in place by the stuff in the bed so it did not shift. I personally would not went to transport my dogs if I could not see them. If I was going to transport dogs I would be a have someone fabricate two posts for me that can be secured adjacent to the lift hinges and struts. They could be secured to mounts with pins and cotter rings. When not in use you could just store them with the leashes. Here in FL close to the coast there are plenty of bimini top fabricators. If you are a boater you will be familiar with West Marine. Go on line to West Marine and check out the bimini top parts for ideas. SMM
