03 FX2 progress thread

Well I thought I had made a progress thread on here awhile back but I couldn't find it for the life of me, so here's my 2003 True Blue scab. Nothing too major has been done to it, just little things here and there that I thought made it a little more unique without taking away from the OE look (I want it to look like a package that would've came from the factory - like if they made an FX2 model in 2003) -- don't worry, no stickers
So here's the pics, start to present

Here's the truck when I first bought it in Jan. 2008 I believe. I bought it from my brother with just under 87k miles on her. Hated the tu-tone but got a great deal since it came from my older brother

plane-jane interior

first mod - FX4 wheels and toolbox removal

then I painted the dash and door panels for a tu-tone interior

Next, the truck sat in a hail storm and insurance paid for a new paint job (and hood, 4x4 valance/fogs ). Somewhere inbetween I got the 2" springtech spacer kit (junk btw) and Flowmaster si/do exhaust.

Then a painted radio surround and Pioneer deh-p5000ub. Also have Rockford Fosgate p300.1 amp with 2 10" JBL GTO subs. Won't rattle the neighbors' windows but suits my needs just fine and sounds great imo.

Musicmooseaudio.com carpet-matched sub box for the 2 10" JBL GTO subs

Sometime around this time hit 100k :/

Then found an expy console and bucket seats, painted it black.

Took of the crappy Springtech 2" coil spacer because it broke a shock and rode like a brick. Sometime around this time installed a billet grille.

Got tired of the billet grille, installed a Lightning grille and briefly had 2" rear drop shackles. Didn't feel like they looked right on the truck with the FX4s and all terrains though so I took them off and sold them with the billet grille.

Leather interior - pic was taken right after installation. Wrinkles have gone away by now. Sorry this is the only pic I have.

Got an Edge programmer and did the LED cluster swap to blue bulbs.

now to the fun mods

Couldn't fix the hot spots from the LED cluster to my liking so I just switched to an Autometer instrument cluster

FX-R HID 4300k projector retrofit. 55w (or maybe 50w? whichever was available)

Pioneer AVIC-U310BT -- this thing has it all. Detachable GPS screen, ipod/iphone capable, built-in bluetooth. I'm loving it. Thinking about selling and getting the appradio though lol. This was given to me after my mom couldn't figure out how to work it in her car Also went back to the flat black/textured radio bezel.

Looks good, did you have to trim your dash to get that double din in?

Thanks! and yeah, sometimes I'm like "man it sure has a lot of work done to it to be a basically stock truck :/ but I'm happy with it and don't really see myself selling it. I'll probably get a gas saver when I graduate and keep my truck for the duties.

Yeah, but it was pretty straightforward. Long as you have a rotary tool it's pretty quick and painless. I just trimmed a little at a time until it fit in there snugly.

thanks guys. Next I must give it a good detail. My house has 2 big trees that drape over the driveway so it gets sapped on constantly and there's not really anywhere else I can park.

thanks twin! lol. I bought the seats off eBay and it was an actual upholstery kit so my old covers came off and were replaced with the leather set. I wound up winning the auction at somewhere around $430 I believe. But that was the only set I found on eBay so I'm not sure where else you would look. I know Katzkin makes great quality leather upholstery kits but don't expect to get that for $430 lol.

Your truck's looking awesome by the way. It was sort of what I had in mind for awhile, but I couldn't ever justify the price plus the extra $$ it would've continually cost me in gas :/ but maybe after I graduate and get a gas saver as my DD.

Did you test fit it with the deck kit? The audio shop gave me some weird brand, guess it'll do.
