A guy wants me to do a motor swap is there anything that I should no about before doing this this is my first ford f150 motor swap with the 5.4. Like removing the intake manifold also herd about something about moving the cab. Any little tips or hint would be great thanks for your help.

 

you can squeeze it out w/o trans if you're careful. Just pull the radiator and fan and you should have enough clearance with an engine leveler to keep things under control

 

It is pretty straight forward. I did mine by removing the intake manifold. Left the trans in (supported it) Total hours with a friend was around 14hours over the coarse of a few days. That included a lot of cleaning, swapping of parts and installation of new parts, gaskets and mounts.

 

Ok thanks guys will I have to take the intake manifold off the new engine to get it to go in or would I just be better off removing the whole front clip peace? Thanks for your help

 

Front clip is welded in. Non removable. You will need to pull the intake mani off the new engine before going in as well so have some new gaskets on hand. Is it a reman engine going in or used engine?
