abs sensor replacement
abs sensor replacement
99 Ford f-150 4.2 2-wheel drive ,when I first start my truck my ABS light would blink once ,and stay on,so I replaced the diff sensor, and drove it,but the light is still on,do i need to disconnect and reconnect the batt, or anything like that?,any help would be great,"PLEASE"-CZ
The light should go off when the problem is fixed.
Does you '99s have 4 wheel ABS? Check if there are wires going to the front wheels. If so you can follow the sensor wires for the front wheels. Then disconnect them and test the OHMs with a voltmeter.
If you jack up the front of the truck you can see the OHMs change when you spin the wheel. If it doesn't, then you've found the bad sensor. You can do a search in the forums to find what it's suppose to be. I think it's around 1000, but I haven't done this in a few years.
You can do something similar with the rear sensor. Since you replaced it, it's probably good, but you can follow the wires back to the module to make sure the wires are good the entire route. The rear sensor has lower OHMs when working correctly.
If all that looks good, it's probably the module. You can take it in to get the code pulled or get a junkyard one. I had a bad one and paid about $125, but it was a '97 4 wheel that was less common than 4 wheel on a '99.
