Fender Flares

Hey guys, I just picked up some stock fender flares today from the junkyard. They came off a 2002 Expedition but I'm sure they will work, they are a little scratched up and I plan to get them painted white to match my truck. The question is should I sand down the scratches and how do you guys think I should do that? The other question is that my truck never came with fender flares so I don't have the clip holes. What do you guys think the best way to put them on would be? Thanks in advance.

I believe there is a type of Bushwacker flare that attaches with an adhesive strip. I would recommend using something similar to that stuff, if its available by itself.

First congrats on the find, I've been trying for a year or so to find all of the flares. Haven't been since I moved last month, but the yards in the Killeen area had been picked through. I got the rears sanded and painted so far, just waiting to find a F/L one now. I just sanded them down with 60 grit I think and then when the black plastic started to show I switched to a finer finishing grit. After that I just went straight for the krylon fusion. As far as attaching them, I had the pre-drilled holes.

The one I go to is huge, they get cars in everyday. The day after I got mine, there was another expedition with the flares in there so I guess I just got lucky on location I'm probably going to have a shop paint them to match my white paint. The only hard part will be putting them on without the holes lol.

You'll have to make a template out of cardboard, -transfer it to wood, hard plastic or whatnot, - clamp and drill. Just use a pilot hole in the template tho. - It will line up better when finished.
