Loose Steering and Eating Tires question

97 f150
4x4
4.2 v6
5" rc lift 295tires
.......i have new moog ball joints/tie rods/...and its been aligned.......

i went to spain for 9 months and now im back and my truck is eating the inside of my tires and has real loose steering....everytime i go around a curve or over a bump the tires are squealing ...its ridiculous.....any ideas what it could be?........i was told maybe the STEERING BOX...and i was thinking that or maybe center drag link...idk.....it could be out of alignment but it was done 9 months ago...and then brought back in like 3 months ago and it checked out aligned.... what you boys think?.....thanx..

I think you need to have a competent front end tech look at it.

I would say trying spraying the rubber bushings on the uca for the squeak maybe. mine were eating the insides too but the alignment guy found that the camber bolts werent torqued correctly and fixed it.

Could have a bad pitman or idler arm.

Put the front end up on jack stands and check for play by wiggling the tire side to side and top to bottom. Any play could mean you need balljoints, tie rod ends or wheel bearings which are all common wear items that can give the symptoms you described.

yeah im wondering about pitman arm....everything...everything...has been replaced up front except pitman and center drag link...as far as suspension goes

Hey man, I'd take it out to express auto if you decide to get it checked by a shop. It's out by Davis Off Road, back when I got my last alignment they were the only shop I could find who knew what they were actually talking about haha.
