Anything can be done: Powerstroke Swap
I don't know, hence the question. Does the F150 have a lighter frame? And if so then what effect does that have on hauling a trailer? Just asking questions because I seriously don't know.
I do know that my 2001 F150's maximum trailer weight is 8,000 lbs. conventional towing or 8,300 lbs. with a fifth wheel. My F250's mximum trailer weight is 10,300 lbs. conventional towing and pretty much whatever I could pull/stop from a fifth wheel or a gooseneck.
So I guess what I'm asking is, what is the difference in the frames of an F150 and an F250? I always understood that the frames were the same? I mean obviously the super heavy duty trucks such as the duallies and the 450 and up aren't going to be the same. But how much difference is there in the frames of a 150 and a 250?
I ask not to be a smart guy, just curious. I always like to gain more knowledge.

Nevermind str8t six, I found out. Apparently they were the same up until '96. After that the 250's had a thicker frame than the 150's. The reason I thought that is because I had a '89 150 and my brother had a '90 250. I have been underneath both and I never saw any difference in the frames. But I now know that '97 and up are day and night. See, I learned something new today.
BTW, you still got an inlline 6? Worst mistake Ford ever made getting rid of it. Mine had 327,000+ miles on it when I traded it in on my '01 250 with the V10. That is when I learned the dangers of test driving something with a motor WAAAYYYYY bigger than the one oyu currently have, haha. THat V10 was great, that is until gas shot up above 2 bucks a gallon. If I still had the truck it would be parked right now. No way I could afford gas at almost 4 bucks a gallon with only 11 MPG.
sure dont, my old truck had one but the transmission went out around 160K so we sold it. i know the motors are tough as nails, but that truck was so dang slow and still only got 15mpg
i get 11mpg now with premium gas

They had to get rid of the inline 6 - it wouldn't easily fit under the hood of the 97, they were having a hard time getting it to pass tighter emissions standards, and EPA fuel mileage was pretty bad. As great as it is, it was just an old design. They did keep it around for industrial use in stationary and non-road use applications. They are doing the same thing now with the 4.2 pushrod V6.

who would think of that!?
