noise in the rear end
here we go agan, went to my dealer for a recall on my gas tank straps
ask them about a noise im getting when i start moving and make a turn.
this happens when you going slow in make a turn..
frist thing out of his mouth is yep ,this is a common problem

did he say what is actually causing the noise? I have a 2000 also and I have been having noise coming from it ever since i got it! they say its one thing and fix it and still having noise! bout to just sale it!
Proper weight is 75W140.
oil is new ,just put new cover on last mouth .
just make the sound going slow and when turing to the right.
and now when u start out some times coming out of 1st gear makes a clunk..

OK, this may be waaay out in left field but anything's worth a shot!
I has rear end noise I was chasing for months. Even started a thread on it. I won't bore you with the details, but it was very similar to what you're going through. I was mere days away from buying parts and rebuilding my entire rear diff cause I was completely convinced that's what the noise was. Last minute I decided to check one more thing...
Of all things on this earth, my noise ended up being...a pad from the parking brake! The pad material fell off the backing plate and was laying down in that wheel area ratlling around under certain conditions.

You did not state whether it is a LS and whether friction modifier was put in. A LS requires the friction modifier.
