Washed motor runs rough with hard shift and shoots code P1747

Hey guys - I'm new to the forum. Hope I can get some guidance here. I have wash my 1997 F150 4.2 motor every few months for years. Never had an issue. 2 weeks ago that changed. Immed after, the truck ran really rough. Felt like a misfire. Opened the hood let it sit in sun and toweled all off again. Got better. 2 days later, it started again and "hard shifted" out of the blue. Now it runs fine for a bit then starts hesitating, jerking, losing power and throws the code P1747 - electronic solenoid short circuit. I can go into and out of ODrive without any problems and the problem is NOT constant but appears to be getting worse. Any ideas? Could getting water where it does NOT belong cause this or is it just coincidence that I have 2 distinct problems. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds more like you got water into a wiring harness connector to throw that code.

I'd look carefully at the coil pack for the miss - it's easy to crack the plastic shooting water on it if it's warm. Check the plug wires carefully too.

The V-6 doesn't have deep plug wells like the Triton V-8.

You did not interpet the code correctly and are just taking it to casual.
The code is for a shorted Electronic Pressure Control solenoid (EPC) in the transmission.
Wonder why you have shift issues?
Good luck.

I interpreted the code correctly. I just neglected to type it correctly... The hard shift has ceased. It did that as it was shifting when the truck was in running rough. I am hesitant to drop the fluid and go into the tranny. When I bought the truck it had more than 100K miles on it. I was unable to verify the tranny fluid had ever been changed. I've had nightmares in the past when I changed trans fluid on a vehicle that had never had it done. It now has almost 200K and I have have not changed it for that reason. The fluid is red, not burnt. Smells new, looks new.

Problem located. It turns out that a short WAS present. The wiring harness passed over the exhaust manifold and was partially melted. As a result, a short was created. It appears that when the motor was washed, water got to the wires.
