Tailgate Net

I'm looking at getting a tailgate net for my '03 flareside. I have an A.R.E. hard tonneau cover, and I want to be able to drive with the tailgate down and the lid locked down and have a way of keeping my gear safe from falling out.

I don't know much about them - how do they attach? Easy removal? Will I have to cut holes in my bedliner to install mounting hardware?

I also have the stepside which has a narrower tailgate, so I doubt a standard size one will fit.

Any info or suggestions?

If you drive with the tailgate down your gonna get rock chips all over it. Just a thought.

The wife and I are getting a couple dogs and on short drives to the lake and back, I want to be able to have them in the back box. The issue is my hard tonneau cover - I love it and keep it on the truck for the colder months but it limits me with the dogs.

If I can put the tailgate down and lock the lid down, it leaves them lots of room to lay down and enjoy the view, but I want a net back there just to make sure they don`t jump out. Daylight and fresh air are my main concerns - don`t want them under a cover without an opening.

If you get a net, remove the tailgate, don't just lower it.

My tonneau cover latches to tabs along the bed rails, so it can be locked down with the tailgate down. ARE specifically says not to drive without having the lid latched down.

Thanks a lot for finding that net! I think I might just order it. For 25 bucks you can`t go wrong.

I had a look at the angle from the tires to the tailgate lowered down, and it seems like rocks wouldn`t get thrown that high, but maybe I`m wrong. I do have the stock Lariat or Stepside guards behind the rear tires.
