What is this wire hanging down? pics*

So I saw a wire hanging down under the front bumper of my truck, passenger side. It has a connector on it that I can't recall seeing before. Everything is normal- runs and drives great.

Is this for fog lights? Can I expect to find another wire on the drivers side? If so can I get some generic fog lights and wire them up? I know I will need a new light switch but anything else? I could fab up the mounting points/ brackets.

Says I can't attache a picture. I figure because I am still new. They are in my album with a link at the bottom of this post. Sorry for the bad shots, it's night time and the truck is dirty and I don't really have the time to follow the wire.

I did a search for fog light wires on these trucks but couldn't find a picture or anything.

Thanks for all the help in advance and sorry about all the questions.

From the location I'd say you're right about the fog harness. The zip tie or whatever was holding it up prolly broke.

Ok, thanks. Can I cut off the connector and wire up some aftermarket fogs? I doubt I will be able to find a set of lights that work with it? Why would ford use such a strange connector? If I find some factory fogs are there ways for me to mount them differently?

I have a 2wd so the mount would have to be custom, which I don't mind doing, just not super experienced with wiring.

What do I have to do to use those wires as a power source for different lights is basically what I am asking. I know I need a new switch, and fab up some mounting brackets but what else?

Thanks for all the help.

Thanks for that pic Jbrew. That's the wire I have. Might I add, that is an awesome frame you have there and filter setup.

Can anyone give me any input in how to run aftermarket fogs? or lights if possible.

I called my local u-pull and they want $20 A SIDE just for what I assume is just the lenses. So if I can pick up a set from my local auto store for $20 a set I would like to do that.

I plan on putting them in the 2wd bumper in the cut out.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

I looked in your album and that's basically what I want to do. Also good job and nice truck Would you mind sharing some more info. Like did you have any problems from taking the factory connectors off?etc. We could also talk over pm if you want.

I don't want to put on a 4wd bumper, not the look I want atm but thanks for the suggestion. I don't mind some custom fabrication, just wiring isn't my expertise lol, as is evident from this thread

On the topic of flux capacitors- blueovalboy- how are your muffler bearings working out? ...

What's wrong with muffler bearings? They work perfectly for a mufflers' spinner effect

As for wiring, it's a simple positive/negative, so I would think a headlight switch with the fog light option would be all you need, but I may be wrong. It happens now n then
