bad situation, but ok result in the end

well, i had my truck at my shop where i work for some exhaust work. my lead tech hasn't had time to work on it, but i'm leaving the truck up there so once he gets the chance, the truck will be there. so of course i want the truck brought in at night. well a new GS tech goes to bring my truck in & doesn't cut the turn wide enough & hits the building with my truck.

so i end up talking to the store manager about everything & of course we are going to fix it. brought it to a local body shop for an estimate & also asked about costs to respray the whole truck. so, they said they could spray everything for an extra $200. so the store is going to fix everything & i'm just going to have it resprayed while it's down there.

thing that sucks is, the repairs are going to come out of the store's bottom line profit numbers......which can affect my service manager bonus......so in the end this is still going to affect my wallet

That stinks. But that is also why the truck has mirrors and his head can rotate the tech shoulda paid more attention

Good deal, glad to see they will make sure it is fixed.
Face palm to the rookie who cut the corner short.

And spray everything for $200 is crazy. I would make sure they are doing it properly by removing all the trim/gaskets and anything removable. For $200 it sounds like they are going to tape everything off. The important areas like the door window trims, rubber seals need to be removed. Otherwise you will have paint peeling in just a few months.

well, got everything back & i must say. i am pretty happy with the results. this is far from a show truck, but i just wanted everything to be the same color, lol (since i had spray painted areas where there were scratches, etc.)

now, i just have to touch up the bumpers with the spray on bedliner & i think i'll be good.

it's funny b/c the guys at the shop told me that too.

little history.....i really neglected the exterior of this truck. ill be honest, i haven't washed the exterior probably since 2009. (looking through pictures i have, the last dated picture was 7/9/2009, lol ). this was just a truck that i used to take something to the dump or tow something back with my car dolly. but then, i really started thinking. i've been through several different vehicles, but this truck is always here (and always will be). the truck is super reliable & it is the one that has given me the least amount of problems (knock on wood). so this respray is a revitalization & i'm definitely going to take better care of everything, not just the motor.
