Door/bed replacement?

Hey guys, I'm just curious as to how difficult it would be to replace the driver and passenger doors, bed, and tailgate on a 99 F150. I found a truck with a little over 100k miles, 5.4, and once I sell my jeep, I'll have enough money. Before I do, I was just looking to see the level of difficulty of replacement!

Thanks in advance!

Well the bed is held on with six (8 for long bed) torx head bolts. When i did my body lift i had to cut 4 of the six to get the bed off. Then there is just the wiring for the tail lights. The tailgate doesn't require any tools to remove, just un-hook the cables, open halfway and lift the passenger side and slide off the drivers hinge(much easier to do then explain) The only thing that may happen is the drivers hinge could be stuck(i couldent get mine off for anything)

Not so sure about the doors, i would imagine it would be easy just have to remember what came apart and what goes where for reinstallation

For the bed, I think the exhaust hangers have to be unhooked too

The only thing on the bed that needs to be removed is the Filler tube (3 small bolts in the filler door), Taillight wiring, and the 6 or 8 bed bolts. Then just lift and remove. One of the easiest things to do on a truck.

That's good to know because trying to convince my parents on that isn't easy, but if I want the truck, I'm gonna buy it because it's my money and it is a heck of a deal!

Doors are pretty easy too depending on if there is a plug by the hinges. All you have to do is Unbolt the hinges. Unplug or pull out wiring to door and your done. You should be able to do it all in an hour if you have air tools and you have no stuck bolts on the bed. I could strip my truck down to just the cab in about 2 hrs.

All that is good to know. That would be a perfect time to install the new tails I'd be wanting and the towing mirrors.

Ok, so I still haven't sold my jeep yet, and the truck is still available. I found out that the new doors are just the shells, so I'd have to transfer the door panels and all wiring. How difficult is it to transfer the wiring over to the new doors? Also, for reinstalling the whole door to the cab, is there anything I'd need to do to balance the door or anything so it closes smoothly and be squarely in the door jamb area?

The wiring is very easy to transfer. Just have to fish it into the new shell and route it to the correct places. Most likely you will have to take it out of the old doors to get them off anyway. So when you take the interior panel off (which is very easy also, just lifts out once the screws are out.) take some pictures or something of where everything went. If the new doors are just shells you will have to move the window stuff over also. Fairly easy to do.
