Shock Question
Shock Question
I am going to be getting new shocks for the front of my truck soon because mine appear to be the factory shocks still on the front. I am getting Skyjacker Hydros. Now here is my question, on the rear someone has put coilover shocks on. Should i replace the coilovers with the skyjacker hydros as well or are coilovers better?? I dont use my truck to haul alot of stuff, maybe a trailer here and there to scrap stuff or haul smaller things. So I guess the question is would it be worth the money to go ahead an replace the coilovers on the rear or just leave them?
Can you post a picture? i beleive that the coil overs on the rear is a kit for extra weight capacity and it should be universal to any shock. Here is a link to a set.

you may be able to keep them with the new shocks

This is more like what is on it...its one piece not a kit like that

Oh i see what you got there. I would just buy the front shocks then and see how it rides as i wouldnt be able to afford all at once anyway. But, in your OP you said you dont haul so i wouldent be woried about not having them, seems like those might make the ride stiffer with the extra spring. I've never had them so mabey someonbe with more experiance with and without them will chime in.
like the monroe's? Ive run those on 2 of my pasts fords and like them. Though, I was regularly putting the ATV in the bed, that's why I wanted them. If you are going more for ride quality and offroad ability, I'd go on and get a full set of new ones if you can afford it. But there's nothing wrong w/ those monroe type shocks on the rear if you dont mind how they ride. Like I said I always like mine, that's why I put them on my '97 after I sold the '93. I just ordered bilstiens for my '03 though, I dont haul much in the bed anymore so, just went w/ regular shocks this time.

yeah that pic looks just like mine. I dont mind the ride and if i ever get my bed cover sold i plan on buying a quad in the next year or two that i would be hauling around in the summer time months so I may just leave them on. Thanks for the info. If anyone else has input feel free to chime in
I had the coil-over monroes on my '98 and I liked them but after a while the springs started to squeak a little. Although, it did raise the rear of the truck a little, but I thought it looked cool; jacked-up a little.
