coil blowup?

Anyone had a coil blowup on them? Thought I blown a plug but plug was good and threads are fine. My coil broke off the piece that holds it down then hit the fuel rail(dent on top of coil from fuel rail). Looked for a code but livewire programmer showed none. Hoping it is just the coil.

Yes. I had it happen when trying the ACCEL coils some years back. It also wrecked the PCM solid state coil switch.
Tough, expensive lesson to learn the ACCEL coils are no bargin at any price..
The coils are fed 14 volts through a fuse.
The PCM switches them to ground accoding to the fire order.
If a short to ground occurs between the coil and the PCM or the coil shorts internally across it's winding, they can overheat enough to come apart.
Hope for you, that it's just the coil.
Good luck.
