Elextrical-hook up accessories

have a 2002 with the 5.4 engine. Want to hiook up back up lights, put a cigarette lighter socket in the bed etc. Looked at the fuse panel under the hood and didn't see a place to create new circuits.

Wondering where the best place is to tap into the electrical for additions?

Thanks,

Gregg

Depending how much power you wanna use, just do a new power run and get one of the fuse panels they sell online and mount it somewhere under the hood or in the cab. Otherwise you'd have to do a bunch of add-a-fuses in the fuse panel and they only support like 10amps iirc.

Or you can wire it straight to the battery with an in line fuse, its what we did to my friends ranger with a 12v cig lighter in the bed of his truck we just put a weather proof flip switch to control the power to it,

That's what I was suggesting, only difference is he could run a big power wire (like 4ga) to a block that could house multiple fuses so he could have room to expand later, instead of just an inline which would require multiple power runs for multiple things.

Thanks much- my old Chevy had terminals under the fuse box that I could wire directly to. Looks like I need to set up an intermediate junction.
