newer 4.6 swap into a 97f150

does anyone know if a 4.6 from a 2004-2008 f150 will fit in a 1997 with a 4.6 2 valve windsor. Im getting my financial aid this week and soon my income and will be enough to get a good salvage engine but the best engine Ive found is a 4.6 from the 04-08 with 81,381 miles with a 1yr warrenty.

I have my 97 f150 in my auto tech class and I might have to change the piston rings, and valve seals. but the engine has 264,800 and I think It would be easier to swap a motor since I have the equiptment there to do it alot quicker.

Any 2v modular will swap including 5.4 although that would take a little to make it work. You will have to swap your intake onto any 4.6 and maybe a few other little things. A custom tune is a good idea but it will run. The newer engine have PI heads so you'd gain 20-30 hp..

Could the 04-08 intake be used if you swap a non-electronic throttle body onto it?
