Question New computer install assistance

Ok, so I chased this stall to the computer. I replaced the computer with the correct part, it and it started but idles funny and runs like crap when you put in gear. When driving it throttles like when traction control is active. But this truck is not equipped with TCC, just rear ABS.It throws a code P1747. Never had these issues before I swapped the ECM. If you find it relavant the chase started at

So my question is , is it doing this because the computer must be programed by the dealer?? Anyone know ?

Two things.
What does the code tell you?
Hint, it's not the PCM!
It's the transmission pressure control valve (TPC) short circuit indication.
This sure will cause the drivabilty issue you have.
The TPC controls fluid pressure to the rest of the transmission functions
No use to ask why the failure, it's there and needs to be repaired.
Secondly, when you change the PCM or power down any PCM, it reboots back to the basic program parameters and has to relearn.
Within that period of time you will see a different driveability feel until the relearn is nearly complete after a number of drive cycles.
Fix the trans first, it's not part of a relearn, then do the drive cycles so the relearn can work out.
Good luck.

Right, but truck ran fine before the swap. But I called Ford and they said it needs to be flashed so it knows what options it has and does not. Like in this case it makes sense, it a reman ecm with basic info. It's for sure the ecm because I put the old one back and no issue. Just the ghost as explained in the link on my first post on this thread.

Ok. But you came and asked and got the answer you needed to resolve the issue one way or another.
It's unusual the PCM would have a different parameter for a common use like this in all trucks.
The TPC is the same in all 4r70 and R100 transmissions but you do what it takes.
The code says the PCM has dectected a short circuit fault not a program operational fault such as an error.
Let us know how it goes.
Good luck.

Well, this has the dealer stumped. The old ECM it runs fine (minus the stall) and the new one it runs like poo. So Ford garage has had it for 4 days now, they flashed the ECM twice, the trans guy spent a day on it and nothing. One tech suggested its a coil pack, and i explained to him what all has been done and his response was "we got nothing".lol

So they contacted the Ford engineer and he is coming today to look, maybe he will figure this out?

Well, its a bad reman ECU. Awesome right? Ford is going to swap to a motorcraft ECM for twice the price but seems the issue has been resolved. They pluged in my old ECM and it runs great, and they also got the data on the stall and came to the same outcome as I did. Bad ECM, so A-1 Cardone is on my crap list for reman ECM's. Should have sprung for a Motorcraft part from the start and it would have saved me $400.00 .
So, does $765.00 sound fair for a flash, replace ECM,Flash again, then replace the ECM with Ford part and yet another flash? I have not had anyone but myself work on any of my cars or trucks, about double what I would charge if I was to do it for someone... Man, im in the wrong buisness!
