Gear change other add-ons for hp and torqu?

Hi I'm switching the gears in my truck from limited slip 3.55. To 4.10's. And I was wondering what are some other things that would improve my torque and hp while I was doing the gear change? I know the 4.10's will help get more power to the ground but I want more!! I was thinking flex a light or Trick Flow Specialties TFS-K51802004 - Trick Flow® Track Max® Hydraulic Roller Camshafts and Valve Spring Upgrade Kits, but I don't know a lot bout this and was wondering what you guys think?

Long tube headers, true duals, e fans and a tune with those gears would be quite the upgrade.

I have everything but e fans. What are those? And do you possibly know how much more torqu I'd be putting out than stock?

You may want to check your exsitong gears of you have the 7700 series (7 lug wheels) I believe you already have 4.10s

Save all the money you'll spend on those upgrades and install a supercharger...keep it 8lbs or less if you dont forge anything else. A better $$/hp gain

I did its really weird I have the 7 lug but when I checked my door panel the sticker either said 15 or 19 one of which was 3.55 gear ratio. So I've dcided that I'm going with the 4.10's e fans and under drive pulleys for this upgrade. What do you guys suggest for next time I upgrade?

Triton is made for hauling not so much drag times... If you're gonna invest some money, which I can't give you part numbers but this is where you wanna look:

- Good set of tires
- Stronger gears
- E-Fans & Underdrive Pulleys
- Chip (My 4.2L won't take a chip, but you can flash a custom tune... So if yours won't take a chip, just custom tune. Almost 100% sure 5.4L Triton takes a chip though!)
- Cold Air/Short Ram Intake (It's your choice, depends what your looking for in performance gains)

That'll be the cheapest route for now.. You could do a 5.4L swap for a Lightning, not too educated on that though might need a new PCM and everything else.

It's better to have power slow, and sound nice, then to be ripping down the streets... I mean what's all that power gonna really do?? Waste tires and what not. I have a 97 with the 4.6L V8 and a custom exhaust and suspension system, keep it clean and love driving it around, sounds so mean just climbing to 60KM/H. Much better then racing everywhere, risking lives and getting tickets.

If you're looking for performance gains I'm hoping it's for the right reasons...

Yeah I mean it's a farm truck. And I haul super heavy loads. Sometimes more than I should I think. I have a Cts programmer. Long tube headers with high flow cats. Cat back exhaust dual exit from pacesetter. K and N 77 series high flow air intake with throttle body spacer. I just don't want it to sound so rough on the truck when I'm pulling the cows and the trailer to commissions. I want this truck to last me a long time I'm happy with it. And so are my female friends. I'm just looking for a bit more. And also a little extra because I plow snow with it with a snow way plow. Even though we haven't got much this year

You've got a ton of work but into it now, should upload a picture of the rig for us to see. Anyway, I'd say you're good to go now man just keep up with the routine repairs.

Ok will do. I'm ordering the gears and e fans and under drive pulleys as soon as my taxes get here. I was told the other day that I shouldn't do the gear change? Becuase I'd run like 4000 RPM at 65 on the interstate and get crappy gas mileage? I dint really think that was true but what do you think?

Your using a half ton truck for 3/4-1ton capabilities. No matter how much money you put in it to add hp so that you can tow bigger things, the rest of the truck is not set up to haul anything more than 6kish. The brakes are not setup for it, suspension, trans, axles, differentials etc... essentially, you may want to consider a 3/4 ton or better for what you are doing.

Stock tires with 4:10 will not be near that. More like 1700-1900 at 65-70
You may want to reconsider some posts regarding E fans and towing heavy loads for long hauls. Some will argue whether E fans, regardless of their added/freed hp do not have the cooling capacity that the stock clutch fan can provide when needed. Others will say they tow all the time with their E fans with no issues. But it should be considered to suite your needs.

I just want to know for sure if the 4.10's will make my life easier and go a bit easier on the truck? And also what the downside of these lower gears are?
