New Truck Owner WIth a Major Problem! Crank no-start
If the pump is running like it should and still no pressure at the rail, the only other
thing i can think is maybe the strainer on the bottom of the pump is completely
stopped up. If i dropped the tank to see iwould probably just go ahead and change the pump also to be safe.

Got 'er figured out!
Sitting here, feeling 3 shades of stupid, and 2 shades of absent-minded... Went back to square one with my Chilton repair manual, one of the first things it says to check : relay and fuses .... 20 amp Fuel pump fuse was burnt. Whoever said check the simple things first was a VERY SMART GUY!
Many thanks to those of you who SPOKE UP with their ideas, kept me motivated long enough to figure it out myself!
Todays lesson learned : Check your fuses! (And pay your tickets!)
Back to work tomorrow, next weekend doing spark plugs and wires as well as 1 coil tower is cracked through the plastic where it bolts down.... Anyone have any suggestions or tips for doing plugs on a 4.6 Triton V8? Got the necessary ratchets, sockets and extensions, heard of using a length of hose to insert/remove plugs from the well...

Just came up on this thread....Yea buddy, next time check the fuses first. When i had similar starting problems last week, i checked every single fuse in the truck both in the cab and under the hood although it wasnt that easy for me as all of them were good! Glad you got it sorted out though!
As far as the plug change its pretty simple...Pull cop, blow the hole out with comp. air, pull the plug with a plug socket, gap new one, put new plug back in with plug socket but only thread it a bit then pull the socket back off and remove the rubber grommet in it and put it back on, torque the plug to 28 lbs.....

First time on a truck yes, did them on my Saturn Ion once, and my mom's old Neon once also. Was just looking for any advice to make the job go smoothly, as ive noticed that the space between the top of the block and the base of the hood isnt very large!
On another note, just took her out for a spin (35km/25mi) and everything is good except there seems to be a misfire, the engine is running rough/missing and when i go WOT, it seems to stumble quite a bit more! Plug change should take care of that, as I mentioned before, there is one coil tower that is cracked, and is not holding in place very solidly.

Hey all, changed out the cracked coil pack a few days ago, truck is running much better now, going to get to the plugs this weekend when i have time in the day, will give updates!
Pull the fuel rails. You will not have to disconnect them from the lines. It will make your project about a jillion times easier, and it only takes about 5-10 minutes to pull them.
