Let the transmission Swap Begin.

Hey,

I own a 1997 F150 single cab 4X4 manual transmission, And since the manual isnt strong enough for badass dune offroading it broke. So I had to get me something good.

I contacted Dan @ Silver fox transmission and he hooked me up with a 4R70W with manual valve body and I have the loaker shifter to fix up. and an HD torque converter.

One thing is missing now and it is the flex plate which a friend promised he'll find it for me.

Here are some Q's and I need a pros input on

since im not a pro at connections.. I need to know what each connector is and what will I need to do in order to start the truck and be able to drive.

Connector 1

Connector 2

Connector 3

Please attach wiring diargrams if available..

Just o double clear it.. My current F150 is a manuall transmission so it doesnt have any of these.

I think it would be easier to adapt another manual like a ZF or NV4500 because of the electronics on the 4R70W.

Those go to the computer to make it shift properly. Not sure if your pcm has all that since yours is a manual. Like said before ZF5 fits awesome and will withstand what you need.

1. neutral safety switch
2. OSS (output shaft speed sensor)
3. All the internal electronics

If you are running a manual valve body and its a 97 (mechanical speedo) you shouldn't need any of those expect to figure out how to start the truck. You may be able to just leave your clutch pedal in and "use" the clutch to start it.

Well thanks guys but I know I'll break the ZF5 as well because i used to power shift alot.. and can't help it because I have a mustang and i power shift the hell off it to kill vettes.

anyway.. back to my trans subject.. yes its a manual valve body and im gonna install it and I will need to wire the Reverse lights and I would need to know what connection is the parking solenoid ( where i have to step on brake to be able to shift to R N D 123 ... )

Other than that I'll also wire the Clutch switch to the brakes and get rid of the 3rd pedal

you shouldn't have the parking switch on your truck being a manual. As for the reverse lights that will be off your neutral safety switch (pic 1) i couldn't tell you which plug is for the reverse off of it though.
