Vac Leak = Stall@Idle ***FIXED***
Thanks to everyone that contributes to this forum!
You saved me time, money, and probably a stroke.
97 F150, SupCab XLT, 5.4, 4 spd auto, tow pack, 120K.

The symptoms you all know: CEL, PO171 PO174, rough idle, high revs, low revs, occasional rpm drop & stall at lights, then frequent rpm drop & stall at lights.
Solution:
Searched forum and read relevant threads. Then acted upon my most recent
reading so I did things in a less-than-optimal order. Everything I did needed done anyway and it is fixed.
1. Seafoam into the booster vac hose. No improvement.
2. New gas filter. No improvement.
3. Inspected hoses. Two that are easy to see were replaced. New PCV & elbow installed. No improvement.
4. Cleaned MAF. No improvement.
5. New IAC. No improvement.
6. Learned there is another elbow at the other end of the PCV hose!
Huge tear/hole in the crook of that elbow. My left arm was sucked in up to
my elbow. Replaced it but motor stalled immediately after start up??!!!!
7. Remembered a post that mentioned "re-training the PCM" after reconnecting the battery. Dried my eyes and started up and kept it idling at 800-900 rpm for 2 minutes. Took my foot of the pedal and odom did NOT plummet!!!
8. Feeling better than 10 minutes after last-call, I drove for 8 miles. Every symptom gone! My manhood restored!
******************************
The IAC was blacker than obama's *** so I'm sure the TB, EGR, et al need to be cleaned and I shall.
Thank you again. I hope this helps someone. The rear elbow was it but the
screwy order of work revealed a lot more to do.
