4x4 Switch Light

So I have had my truck for about 6 months and finally noticed that my 4x4 switch doesn't light up. And while I was messing with the 4x4 I pulled the **** off and saw that there is a little blue piece of plastic so I know it is ment to light up. My problem is how to get it out so I can replace the bulb. Am I going to have to pull off the dash off like I had to do to replace the light cluster? Any help or pics you have would be great thanks!

Are you sure your 4x4 system is actually working and all? get power to the front wheels? Your sure about that? you would have to take the dash apart if its the bulb.

Both my 4 high and 4 low work great. I can feel it and hear the click to. The dash also lights up. The only problem is the switch light.

Actually it does lite up! I found out how to get the radio part of the dash off and got the light bulb out. It is a led which I found surprising for a 1998. But now my problem is I can't find the bulb in any local part store... So I am going online or junkyard to find the light.

Edit: messing around the bulb and it isn't a led just a mini white bulb with a blue plastic shield over it.

Right the light that lights it up right? Its part of the display lights when you turn on the dash lights? I have a 4x4 light and a low range light in the instrument cluster near the temp gauge. Then there is a light for the switch i guess that illuminates it? mine could be a little different then yours mines a 99..
