2000 F150- A Couple Quick Questions
We'll see. I'm pretty determined to keep this truck a while then trade plus cash on something with a Cummins. Ford f*cked me in a huge way on a 2011 Mustang GT and I honestly have zero desire to represent such a BS company, but I couldn't pass on the price of this truck as badly as I need a truck lately.
That sucks on the 11 'Stang (I'd love to own a new 5.0.. I had a '86 GT with the old 5.0 and it was a blast!).. I'm sure there is a 'bad' story about that deal, but there are millions of stories about all the other makes too (me included), so you just gotta do what you gotta do to keep yourself happy!
Knowing this, I would not put much into the F150 at all... How often are you going to be towing a #7500 trailer?
I can understand not wanting a 3.31 geared rear end period however... If you could find a decent junk yard 9.75" with a 3.73 for a couple hundred bucks, that would be the ticket!
You should already have a OEM trans cooler with a 5.4 and I'd forget about the E fan plan too if it was me...
Then save up for that Cummins machine. I gotta admit, I do like those motors.. My Dad has had a couple of them since 1999 and his current 2005 Dually does him well with his #13000 5th wheel. Now, if you could wrap up a nice Cummins in an F350 with an Allison trans, that would be quite the combo IMO!

Today I scored a Class IV receiver, hitch, 2" ball, and spare tire winch for $40.
My parts guy is picking up a SuperCrew with the 3L73 9.75 next week and said it's mine if I pull it.
This sucker is coming together quick!

I'm leaning toward prepping this truck to be solid for what it is, but I'm still not really comfortable towing with it. If anything I'll use it to tow to my dad's house and swap trucks there. We'll see. Once I get a few more things situated I'll make the call. Worst case, I'll have about $1500 total (after tires) in a solid half ton truck with ice cold A/C.
