Rear-ended, need repair advice

Short version of the story: Was rear-ended in the 2002 F150 on Friday on the freeway. The impact pushed me into the vehicle in front of me. CHP came, made a report, and now I'm waiting to get an estimate on repairs.

I'm looking for advice on what to be on the lookout for when getting an estimate. Some things are obvious, like the dented bumpers and panels. I'm mostly concerned about the frame and rear suspension damage.
Pics of the carnage:
1. Passenger side

2. passenger side, rear of cab

3. Rear of bed

4. Frame, from rear axle back.

Bent frames not good, they could possibly total out the truck because of it depending on what its worth.

How fast did they hit you. I know here in Canada most bent frames are a right off.

If you really love the truck, you might be able to buy it back from the insurance company when they total it. It will have a salvage title at that point. A frame shop can straighten most anything but the hourly rate could be like $150/hour or more.

In your model year, that is going to be a total. If a newer model (say 08 up), they would replace the frame, just because of the cost.

I agree, bent frame=total. If there is lots of stuff on the truck you want do the but back and use your truck as a donor/part out. Any mods the insurance won't cover remove for future truck/sale. My thought is if they arn't going to pay for something then they don't get it.

Make sure that since you were pushed into the vehicle in front of you that you aren't charged with a rear ender too, you might have to fight tooth and nail for that.

Hope everyone is ok cuz that looks like a pretty hard hit.

Good luck.

ps. where are you located? I might be interested in both the passenger side doors.

Take the mods off to add to a new truck or sell as stated because more than likely the insurance company will total the truck with a bent frame.

that's a common area for a bent frame with a tow hitch installed, and about an hour repair on the frame rack

did the air bags deploy??

depends on what all else was damaged if it'll be totaled

I agree that with the frame bent, it will be totaled. I also agree that.... if you have the space... buy it back from the insurance company for parts or parts resale. What's the front look like??

Not saying it is not repairable but cost wise, it will most likely be totaled. Buy it back, straighten the frame and put a new bed on it.

It's mostly all stock, except for the stereo/speakers/amps upgrade that I did earlier this year.

The only other damage visible to my untrained eye is the front bumper. The air bags did not deploy. I was able to drive it home after the accident with no problems, and everything seems functional.

Low KBB is $9,700, high is $10,900. The truck only has 61k on it. It's not a daily driver by any stretch. It sits in the driveway until I need its utility or I want to drive it instead of the family car. But it has served me pretty well, and I'd like to keep it around if it's not totaled.

I was rear ended from a stop and the lady that hit me was doing 35MPH. It bent my frame pretty good in the same spot, the box hit the cab and the bed was slightly bent. I thought they would have totaled it for sure but it ended up being $3,700 in damage and it was $1,200 just to straighten the frame
