Seat Advice Needed

My driver's seat has a tear. I have a 2001 F150 4X4 Supercab Lariat with grey leather seats. The seats are in good shape but the cost of replacing the panel that has a tear in it is being quoted between $125 and $200. I was thinking about recovering the seats or replacing them so I am reluctant to spend that much on a repair that won't match.

I have surfed the net looking for new covers and seats. I am not finding anything suitable. Can you point me in the right direction. Should I replace or recover the seats? Can I change the seats to newer ones? If so, which ones will fit? Where can I find seats other than local junk yards? Any seats I have seen are in worse shape than the ones I have.

My goal is to completely customize this interior and truck. I'm in FL on the coast near Cocoa Beach. Thanks!

if you are going to go custom interior, i would just go ahead and get them done however you plan on doing the interior.

i would recover the seats, if the foam is worn out, then you could just get some replacement foam cushion. you shouldnt have to replace the whole seat back and pan.

You have pretty decent seats so catskin leather or wet okolee neoprene make nice seat covers or you might want to look into some custom racing style seats if that's your taste.

Katzkin or Classic Soft Trim both make nice upholstery kits. I had my 98 Larait done with a Classic Soft Trim kit, including perforated suede center sections. Total cost for a Scab was about 1100.00 in 2004. Seat color actually matched plastics better that original Ford leather, leather quality was far superior as well.

The "upholstery kits" are designed to permanently replace your leather and the Wet Okole, custom made in your choice of colors, is designed to cover over the leather without the moderately difficult extra work of removing and stretching on upholstery.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I tried calling Katzkin before I made my post. It's rep told me it does not have a kit for my 2001 Lariat Supercab. Glen R., can you give me any additional info so that I can try to call again? Maybe I didn't ask the right questions. I would love to go that route if I could.

I called CST in Tampa and was very pleased by what one of the owners there told me. CST Tampa will be able to replace my leather seating surfaces when I am ready for them to. CST Tampa is about 2.5 hours away from me but I travel that way frequently. Once I am ready the techs there will knock it out in a day. Thanks for the great feedback AGAIN! This is a fantastic site! I will post before and after photos when it happens.

I was really happy with my Classic Soft Trim interior, unless they have changed, their quality is excellent.

Thanks, Glen. I had never heard of CST before you mentioned it. I'll let you know how things turn out.

Guys, I have a 03 and my driver side seat pan is wore out and starting to rip up. Can anyone recommend a place to buy a kit for cloth seats?

I hadn't check OEM yet but I'm sure it will be pricy... I want to replace form and cover for just the seat pan to match.

Thanks,
David.

Here's what I found for OEM:

http://www.oemparts123.com/?i=2&make...126&type=parts

About 240 bucks but I can't tell what all it comes with... I only need the bottom driver pad and cover.

Though the descriptions aren't too detailed, I would think it would be the upper and lower seat cover ..... no foam .... for a single seat, be it left, right or full bench. Look in your yellow pages for auto upholstery and check if that may be a better route to go.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas as well and thanks also for the feedback... I have a place not too far but they don't/can't match OEM and would have (and they would want) to recover it all. But if I can't find just the drive pan foam and cover, it might be cheaper to have the entire bench done?

I'll swing by my dealer tomorrow and take a look see.

Check out a lot of upholstery shops if there are more than one in the area. Prices vary wildly. A friend of mine just bought a second truck to use for parts. Not an F150. He is a chevy fan. He paid $1500 for the truck and he will save thousands on the parts he will pull off. He already has buyers for some stuff he doesn't want. I wish I had a place to keep a spare truck! Check out the parts for sale in the classified too.
